Google Maps Celebrates April Fool's With Twist on Classic 'Snake' Game

You can now play a version of the classic Snake game on the mobile app and desktop.

Well, it appears that Google is hopping on the "Snake train" for April Fools Day, replacing the iconic snake with a virtual train.

Snake on Google Maps starts rolling out worldwide on Android and iOS today, and will be live in the app for about a week, according to a post on the Google Blog.

Once you open the menu, you'll find an option saying "Play Snake".

Johnny Manziel Suffers Head Injury, Leaves AAF Game vs. Apollos
It appears Manziel sustained a concussion, but nothing has been confirmed at this point. It looks like "comeback szn" may have to be put on hold.

There's no actual snake this time, instead you play as a public transport vehicle, like a Tokyo bullet train, San Francisco cable auto or a London double decker bus, and pickup passengers on an 8-bit map of their respective cities.

Depending on what city you chose to play in, you'll have to gather passengers with your ever-growing train and visit important locations around the world, including Big Ben, the Great Sphinx of Giza, and the Eiffel Tower. Your goal is to pick up passengers for your train, which you do by running those passengers over without hitting yourself or the side of the game board. You control the train on the screen using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Each passenger you pick up makes your train longer, which makes it a bit harder to manoeuvre on the screen.

For extra points, you can pick up famous landmarks in each city (like the Sydney Opera House, London Bridge or the Golden Gate Bridge).
