Intel unveils Xeon Platinum CPU with up to 56 cores

These consist of 2nd-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, Intel Optane DC memory and storage solutions, and software and platform technologies optimised to help its customers extract more value from their data.

Intel's latest data center solutions target a wide range of use cases within cloud computing, network infrastructure and intelligent edge applications, and support high-growth workloads, including AI and 5G.

These new processors also have a higher memory frequency with support for DDR4 2933MHz system memory and a total of 4.5TB of Optane persistent memory (PMEM) per socket.

The 2nd-Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors will be available for everyone starting today and wish ship inside systems inside the first half of 2019. These include general availability of the second-generation Xeon Scalable processor, which is optimized for demanding processing requirements from the network edge to the cloud in network applications such as 5G and A1.

Intel said that key hardware and software ecosystem players such as Acer, Cisco, Dell, Lenovo and SAP, have market-ready solutions to enable customers to efficiently deploy Intel's latest technologies and enhance performance across workloads. QNAP is committed to deliver a new content aware storage solution that optimizes mission-critical streaming tasks and boasts unrivaled performance for the CDN (Content Delivery Network), and co-work with IEI® to deliver powerful NFVi (Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure) for the increasingly complex network.

According to Intel, the processors offer the highest performance now available for HPC, AI and IAAS workloads, in addition to access to the highest memory bandwith thanks to all the numerous memory channels.

Rare glimpse into Saudi Aramco Reveals $111 billion Gain
As per the investor presentation, the SABIC acquisition would be having no impact on the rating of Aramco. Aramco will start meeting worldwide bond investors this week for the much anticipated debt transaction.

Targeting computing at the edge, security and storage solutions, Intel also unveiled the Intel Xeon D-1600 processor, a highly-integrated system-on-chip designed for dense environments where power and space are limited, but per-core performance is essential.

Building on more than 20 years of data center platforms and deep customer collaboration, Intel's data center solutions target server, network, storage, internet of things (IoT) applications and workstations.

Intel Agilex family combines FPGA fabric built on Intel's 10nm process with heterogeneous 3D SiP technology - providing the capability to integrate analog, memory, custom computing, custom I/O, and Intel eASIC device tiles into a single package with the FPGA fabric.

The four processors listed under the new series include the Xeon Platinum 9282, Xeon Platinum 9242, Xeon Platinum 9222 and Xeon Platinum 9221 with a minimum of 32 cores and 64 threads with a Turbo Boost capacity of 3.7GHz.

NetApp, the data authority for hybrid cloud, announced NetApp Memory Accelerated Data (MAX Data) 1.3 supporting the Intel Optane™ DC persistent memory.
