ISPR releases 'proof' further contradicting Indian claim of shooting down F-16

India claims that one of its Mi G-21 fighter jets shot down a Pakistani F-16

The Indian Air Force on Friday asserted that electronic signatures had shown that it shot down an F-16 plane of Pakistan Air Force on February 27, amid claims by an American magazine that no F-16 was missing in the Pakistan armoury.

One of the senior US defense officials said that Pakistan invited the United States to physically count its F-16 planes after the incident as part of an end-user agreement signed when the foreign military sale was finalized.

The magazine said, India has once again misled the world through baseless and false claims.

The Indian claims of shooting down a PAF F-16 on February 27 were debunked by United States officials as all aircraft are accounted for, Foreign Policy reported earlier in the day.

The revelation built on a report published on the Foreign Policy magazine's website on Thursday, which stated that U.S. officials had conducted a count of Pakistan's F-16 jets and found that none were missing.

The sources also said that intercepted radio communication of PAF revealed that one of their F-16s that was involved in the attack on India did not return to its base.

Pakistan had categorically said that no F-16 fighter jets were used and denied that one of its planes had been downed by the IAF. The IAF reiterated that a MiG-21 Bison had shot down the Pakistani F-16 jet in the Nowshera sector.

"IAF claim of hitting F-16 by their Mig-21 before having been shot down by PAF gets exposed".

The two unnamed officials, said to have direct knowledge of the situation, told the publication that U.S. personnel recently counted Islamabad's F-16s and found none missing.

He starred in such comedies as "Big Daddy ", "Billy Madison " and "Happy Gilmore ", among dozens more. "Why should I? I don't know how good it would be".

The count had now been completed and all aircraft "were present and accounted for", the official was quoted as saying.

"It would be incredibly naive for us to believe that we could sell some type of equipment to Pakistan that they would not intend to use in a fight", the official said.

"As regards PAF (Pakistan Air Force) action for strikes across LOC (Line of Control in Kashmir) it was done by (Chinese made) JF17 from within Pakistan airspace", the Pakistani statement had said.

Meanwhile, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Major General Asif Ghafoor also urged India to "speak the truth".

"Pakistan retains the right to use anything and everything in its legitimate self defence", said a Pakistani military statement on the aerial engagement released on Monday.

The Indian's MiG was hit in the aerial engagement and it crashed in Pakistani territory.

The F-16 aircraft are manufactured by USA weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin, and have formed the backbone of Pakistan's air force for decades. "Electronic signatures gathered by us indicate that the PAF aircraft was a F-16". Narang told Foreign Policy, "As details come out, it looks worse and worse for the Indians".

India launched a counter-terror operation against a JeM training camp in Balakot.

That in turn was in response to a suicide bombing on February 14 in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 40 Indian troops and which was claimed by a militant group based in Pakistan.
