"If you're wondering what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta", the Canadian actor captioned the photo. As an example, take his granddaughter, Alessandra Mussolini, who is an elected member of the European Parliament and now in a Twitter feud with Ace Ventura actor Jim Carrey.

Beneath was a painting of Italian facist dictator Benito Mussolini and his lover Claretta Petacci, who were executed by Italian communist partisans in 1945.

In response, Mussolini - a 56-year-old member of the Italian Parliament - tweeted out images of controversial moments in USA history that she appears to think would be more appropriate for Carrey to depict.

"You are a b**tard", Mussolini, who has gone into politics like her grandfather as a member of the European Parliament, replied.

Australian property downturn spreads as most capital cities record falling values
House values, however, have fallen even further, down by 0.7 per cent last month to be 11.8 per cent off since March 2018. Australian home prices have now fallen 7.4% since peaking in late 2017, according to CoreLogic's Home Value Index .

It was certainly to the point, but not content with taking on Carrey, she also tussled with a few others online who had their own opinions on the matter.

"My grandfather fought to liberate Europe from people like your grandfather", said another. Alessandra, an Italian politician and avid Trump supporter, fired back at Carrey in a series of tweets.

Mussolini's granddaughter went on to post an angry tweet storm in response to the cartoon calling out Carrey for not creating art about American historical embarrassments such as the treatment of Native Americans, Southern segregation and the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan at the end of World War II.
