That won't change. But I will be more mindful and respectful of people's personal space, and that's a good thing. "I've always tried to make a human connection that's my responsibility, I think.it's the way I've always been, it's the way I try to show I care about them and listening".

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday responded to a series of misconduct allegations leveled against him by promising to "be more mindful about respecting personal space in the future". I hear what they're saying. "I don't know him well", the president added.

Biden is known for physically embracing people in public.

The video bit.ly/2OOhMFG is the latest attempt by Biden and his team to try to tamp down a controversy that has flared since a Nevada politician, Lucy Flores, last week said Biden made her feel "uneasy, gross, and confused" when he kissed the back of her head at a 2014 campaign event.

When a second woman came forward on Monday claiming Biden made her feel uncomfortable at a 2009 CT fundraiser, his team pointed to his response from Sunday.

Biden has always been known for a warm and intimate campaign style.

In the wake of the revelations, while campaigning for Mr Trump's Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, Mr Biden made little secret of his distaste for Mr Trump's remarks, and said he would like to take Trump "behind the gym" to beat him up.

Three other women later came forward to tell stories about awkward encounters with the former Vice President. In a now-viral photograph from 2015, Biden can be seen putting his hands on the shoulders of Stephanie Carter, the wife of former Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, and whispering in her ear.

Carter said the photograph of her and Biden had been "misleadingly extracted" from her husband's swearing-in ceremony, and the former vice president had been offering his support. Coons said Biden was a grandfather figure to his children. In a speech to a fundraising dinner for the National Republican Congressional Committee, Mr Trump twice alluded to the claims, which are hanging over Mr Biden as he weighs up whether to throw his hat in the ring for next year's showdown.

Democrats have yet to say Biden's behavior is disqualifying, opting instead for a cautious and more nuanced conversation around the implications of his behavior.
