Everton FC have begun investigating an alleged incident involving goalkeeper Jordan Pickford that occurred in Newcastle city centre on Sunday night.

The club, meanwhile, have remained tight-lipped for the time being, telling Sky Sports: "The club has been made aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players and we are looking into the matter". In footage published by The Sun, Pickford is said to be shown being dragged away from the scene.

Pickford played on Saturday as the Toffees beat West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium.

In a video shared on social media, the 25-year-old England global appears to be involved in a physical altercation outside of a pub in Sunderland.

Saturday, about 24 hours after Josephson's disappearance, a patrol officer spotted a black Impala two blocks from Five Points. Rowland remains in the Richland County jail at least until his bond hearing, a date for which has not been set.

Pickford came through the ranks with Sunderland but joined Everton for an initial £25million when the Black Cats were relegated from the Premier League in June 2017.

Pickford also appeared in an Instagram video which showed him posing for photographs with fans while men in the background shouted abuse at him.

Pickford has represented his country at senior level on 17 occasions and was one of Gareth Southgate's leading lights during his side's run to the World Cup semi-final last summer.
