Nipsey's mother Angelique Smith and father Dawit Asghedom were joined by the rapper's girlfriend Lauren London, the mother of his two-year-old son Kross, at the star's grandmother's home in Los Angeles as they remembered their boy in a chat with the Los Angeles Times. Many hold Hussle in high esteem for his activism and community service.

Police say that two people were shot during the vigil, with one suffering a wound to the elbow while the second person, a woman who reported hearing a "loud, rapid succession of gunshots from an unknown direction", was struck in the lower back and buttock area, according to a search warrant obtained by TMZ. "He was there with his daughter", the lawmaker told the New York Times, praising Hussle for his tireless work ethic. Tickets will be available from Tuesday at 10 am and will be free of charge. There will be a public memorial service at STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Eric Holder, Hussle's alleged shooter, has been apprehended and charged with murder and attempted murder. Holder entered a plea of not guilty in court. Known as a member of the Rollin 60s Crips gang he also spoke out about gun violence, collaborating with the LAPD to promote safer communities and investing in neighborhood community spaces and businesses including the store where he was killed.

Nipsey Hussle's family and his partner, Lauren London, have spoken out about the rapper a week after his murder.

The City Council is expected to adjourn its regular Friday meeting in honor of Hussle. Last week, a petition was launched to rename a South Central L.A. intersection after the rapper.
