Lakers meeting with Lue regarding coaching vacancy

Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue is meeting with the Lakers on Friday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Lue and Williams both have previous rapport with star player LeBron James - Lue as his former coach with the Cavs and Williams as one of the assistants for Team USA, as well as a former coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Lakers have certainly had their fair share of drama in terms of personnel over the last two weeks. Since the Lakers parted ways with Luke Walton, Lue has emerged as a possible candidate for the team's open coaching position.

Whoever gets hired should have an easier time than Walton.

The service, available starting today in the USA , will provide access to top Amazon Music playlists and thousands of stations. Doing that requires Amazon Music Unlimited , a separate service which offers about 50 million songs for $3.99 a month.

The Lakers have also reportedly been interested in Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams and planned to meet with Williams prior to Game 3 of Philadelphia's opening round series against the Brooklyn Nets.

Lue has history with James, having coached the Lakers superstar with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2016-18. He finished his tenure in Cleveland with a 128-83 record. He was an assistant under David Blatt when the Cavs reached the Finals in 2015.

Now it looks like he could re-join a LeBron-led team - this time in Los Angeles. The 2018-19 campaign was his first season back on an National Basketball Association bench after taking several years off following the death of his wife in a vehicle accident. Lue was sacked shortly into the 2018-19 season, as Cleveland underwent a full rebuild, but has a strong 41-20 playoff record and a championship to go with it as a rookie coach, which shouldn't be overlooked. With a big offseason looming for Los Angeles, hiring a head coach is definitely the first step for a franchise that is looking to return to prominence.
