The Uruguay worldwide scored just 15 goals in 44 Premier League appearances across his first season-and-a-half after joining from Ajax in January 2011.

Sarri insists he wants to keep Higuain next season but wants him to improve physically for the Premier League.

"It was a problem for Suarez in the first season at Liverpool", Sarri said.

Higuain has scored three times since he joined Chelsea in January - twice against Huddersfield, before notching away at Fulham.

While reiterating his stance that Higuain needs to do more in the closing weeks of the season, Sarri says Higuain can take solace from the dramatic improvement of Suarez after a slow start to life with Liverpool.

Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek both impressed in Chelsea's 3-0 win over Brighton on Wednesday, but Sarri warned fans hoping to see both in action again when West Ham visit Stamford Bridge on Monday that he will need to lean on his squad if he is to succeed in the Premier League and Europa League. He scored only a few goals.

UEFA charged Montenegro with racist behaviour following the match, but the Tottenham Hotspur defender is already predicting a weak response.

Hudson-Odoi, making his full debut in the Premier League, set up Olivier Giroud's opening goal, while Loftus-Cheek scored and assisted a goal in the comprehensive win.

"I think he needs time to improve his physical condition and time to be suitable for the Premier League".

And Sarri still believes that move should go ahead despite Higuain scoring just three times since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Higuain is now on six-month loan, but Chelsea have the option to extend that for an additional 12 months for £15.5m or sign him on a permanent basis £31m.

Asked if he wants to sign Higuain past this season, Sarri said: "Yes of course, but it depends on the club, it depends on Juventus. It's not clear the situation", said Sarri.

Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has claimed he can not promise starting spots against West Ham to duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, despite the pairs impressive midweek performances.
