Melon Recalled Due To Salmonella Outbreak | Rye

"Upon learning that this outbreak is likely linked to pre-cut melon from a Caito Foods' facility in IN, the FDA began working with the company and retailers to promptly recall the product and prevent further exposure to consumers", said FDA Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response Frank Yiannas.

Indiana's Caito Foods is voluntarily recalling fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and fresh cut mixed fruit containing one of these melons.

Eyewitness News previously reported that the recall affected Kansas stores but Dillons spokesperson Sheila Lowrie said Wichita area stores are not impacted by the recall.

The fruit was sold at WalMart, Kroger, Target, Amazon/Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

Authorities say 93 people have been sickened, 23 of whom were hospitalized.

Racers will have to focus their efforts on hitting the gas and brake pedals and timing their boosts to win races. Hopefully, we will see multiplayer added to the game when it arrives for Android.

Health officials advise consumers to check packaging to determine if the melon was distributed by Caito Foods, and, if so, not to eat it.

So far, cases have cropped up in nine states: Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. No deaths have been reported.

These products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Carrau, "an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems", said the FDA.

Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
