DC United captain Wayne Rooney was sent off for an terrible tackle on Sunday.

The referee initially gave Rooney a yellow card before consulting VAR, in which the decision was quickly overturned and a red was handed out instead. Wayne Rooney is an angry man - you might be surprised to know that last night's dismissal is only the third time in a seventeen year professional club career that the Liverpool born striker has seen a straight red.

Admittedly, he has also seen red on two occasions for England - in a 2011 Euro qualifier in Montengero and famously at the 2006 World Cup.

San Jose Earthquakes picked up their first points of the season with a 3-0 win against the Portland Timbers. Vela switched to his left foot and scored past flat-footed goalkeeper Bill Hamid.

In his absence, Scott Kuggeleijn is expected to make it to the playing XI and make his IPL debut against Kings XI Punjab tomorrow. KL Rahul and Sarafaraz Khan then added 110 runs for the third wicket to revive Kings XI's chances.

The visitors went ahead in the 15th minute through former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela, and Rossi netted his first of the night 12 minutes later with a decisive strike low into the bottom corner.

Rossi, from near midfield, played a ball wide to Vela on the left side and then sprinted into the area where he slipped a left-footer inside the near post in the 27th.

LAFC has won three in a row and has outscored its opponents 19-5 this season.
