Mueller report details Trump's "mostly unsuccessful" efforts to influence Russian Federation probe

President Trump claims total exoneration, but the special counsel's 448-page report details the president's repeated efforts to stymie the investigation - and how he was stopped by the people around him.

"There are at least four significant ways that Mr Barr has misled the public on the contents of the Mueller report", Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a joint statement.

A powerful United States congressional committee has issued a subpoena for an unedited version of special counsel Robert Mueller's report.

"If we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state", Mueller wrote.

U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat, issued a subpoena to the Justice Department to hand over the full Mueller report and other relevant evidence by May 1.

Mueller said in his report that Trump's "efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful, but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the president declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests".

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren became the first major contender for the Democratic 2020 presidential nomination to call for the start of impeachment proceedings, saying on Twitter that "the severity of this misconduct" demands it.

Gio Gonzalez a Mets' option with Yankees breakup imminent
In the past three seasons, he has averaged 183 innings while posting a 112 ERA+ and a 2.33 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Gonzalez, 33, was 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA in three Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starts as of late Thursday night.

Trump has repeatedly dubbed the investigation a "witch hunt" and insisted he did not engage in collusion or obstruction.

Mr Mueller also concluded in his report that there was not enough evidence to establish that Mr Trump's campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy with Moscow to sway the 2016 election, a finding that has been known since late March when Mr Barr released a summary of Mr Mueller's conclusions.

Mueller's report also laid out numerous contacts between members of Trump's 2016 campaign and family members with Russians, some of whom offered information deemed helpful in electing the billionaire.

The Mueller inquiry laid bare what U.S. intelligence agencies have described as a Russian campaign of hacking and propaganda to sow discord in the United States, denigrate 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and boost Mr Trump, the Kremlin's preferred candidate. But when Trump endorsed him for his Senate bid a year ago, Romney happily accepted.

Half a dozen former Trump aides were charged by Mr Mueller's office or convicted of crimes during the 22-month-long investigation.

The U.S. Justice Department dismissed a subpoena by the House Judiciary Committee for an unredacted copy of the report produced by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as "premature and unnecessary" in a statement on Friday.

Only two US presidents have been impeached: Bill Clinton on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice in 1998 and Andrew Johnson in 1868 after firing his secretary of war in the tumultuous aftermath of the American Civil War.
