Notre Dame advanced to the championship game of the women's NCAA Tournament, again.

"I'm too old to have those kind of nerves but I do get excited and butterflies when the ball is tossed and its ready to be played", Mulkey told KWTX in an exclusive interview. Both semifinal games on Friday night were either tied or within a point in the final minute of regulation. "They were better than us tonight".

The AP coach of the year was taking a mental snapshot of her team, appreciating the moment after seven years trying to get back to the title game. Ogunbowale scored just two points before the break, Samuelson was shut out. Megan Walker hit for 14 points.

Of Mulkey's three titles, it's the second time that Baylor head coach is sharing it with her daughter.

The Huskies' lead kept growing before the Irish rallied in front of a sellout crowd of 20,062. The clutch gene has a way of emerging late, just as it did for quarterback Joe Montana in the fourth quarter.

There has been a different vibe around UConn this season. Heading into their showdown with rival Irish on Friday night, the Huskies had already lost two games this season and didn't have, as Auriemma put it, "the fear of losing". Her 3-pointers with 6:12 to play in the fourth put OR up three to match their largest lead of the second half before the team went ice cold down the stretch. CT hit only 13 of 36 shots from the field and Notre Dame was a wretched 14 of 42. From that point, the Irish buckled down and closed the game on a 26-12 run led by who else but Arike Ogunbowale. She really single-handedly kept us in the game the first half.

"We've generally thought we had an abnormal advantage in the post", McGraw said Saturday afternoon. What would these teams do for an encore after last year's instant classic?

It's a problem she sees first-hand in her sport and profession, but as a head coach, she has the very real opportunity and power to do things differently. In the second half she accrued 16 points, notably the epic three-pointer at the horn for the 61-58 victory. Last year's Final Four hero scored 14 of her 21 second-half points in the fourth quarter to will Notre Dame back to the title game.
