Nikkei: Less expensive Switch model due out this fall

Tencent, of course, isn't just one of the biggest video game publishers in China - it's one of the biggest in the world, so it makes sense that Nintendo would partner with the massive company to release the Switch in the country.

A brand new story claims that Nintendo is indeed working on a cheaper, smaller Switch console that should be launched this fall, and it comes from a pretty reliable source.

We then heard that Nintendo supposedly wasn't planning any Switch refreshes or price cuts for 2019, but that doesn't mean we're done dealing with Switch rumors. "U Deluxe" game, a statement on the government's website showed.

In any case, there are some other choice tidbits, including the fact that Nintendo's "Quality of Life" business has been shuttered, five years after it first appeared. Two people familiar with the matter said the approval by the Guangdong culture ministry would allow the Switch to be sold nationwide.

Mueller report: Things we only just learned
The special counsel's office looked to whether members of the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian election interference. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Thursday that she takes "no pleasure in discussions of impeachment".

It remains unknown when the console may go on sale in China, with games needing to clear a separate approval process.

Public translations of Nikkei's report suggest that an "overhauled next-generation model" could actually replace the current Switch and bring enhancements "including usability, improved image rendering, and changes to the operating system, among other things". The Chinese province of Guangdong, where Tencent is registered, gave approval to the company on Thursday to release the Switch with a test version of the New Super Mario Bros. The game launched for iOS and Android devices in the West in 2017.

Nintendo has previously released gaming devices like the N64 and the 3DS XL in China under iQue branding.
