2019 could well be the year we move away from the notch for good - not only are flagships like the Galaxy S10 launching with hole punch cutouts for their front-facing cameras, but now we're starting to see the concept spread to the mid-range as well. Sadly, the Nokia X71 is only selling in Taiwan for the time being, and it's not a flagship handset.

Nokia has hopped on to the punch-hole display trend with the launch of X71 smartphone in Taiwan.

The X71 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor along with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory. The Nokia X71 is company's is the very first handset to arrive three rear-mounted cameras. The phone is the first from the Finnish OEM to feature a 48 MP camera and punch hole display.

The Nokia X71 sports a 6.39-inch PureDisplay with Full HD+ resolution, 96% NTSC color gamut coverage, and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. On the back we also have a fingerprint sensor, and the X71 also features the LED notification light in the power button, just as we saw with the 3.2 and 4.2 at MWC2019. The smartphone packs a 3500mAh non-removable battery with support for 18W wired fast charging. The storage can be expanded by up to 256GB through microSD card.

However, there is no word on its availability in other markets. On the back, the Nokia X71 features a triple-camera setup with a primary 48MP Sony sensor (f/1.8).

The Nokia X71 is part of the Android One program and runs on Android 9.0 Pie.

Connectivity options include Hybrid Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5 mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port. Its dimensions are 157.19 x 76.45 x 7.98 and it weighs 180 grams.
