Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has revealed that he requested the role change which has seen him pushed into a more advanced midfield berth by Jurgen Klopp.

The 28-year-old certainly provided some assistance to the front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, with his harrying and pressing helping maintain pressure on the Porto defence.

Henderson has impressed for the Reds, playing as a box to box midfielder.

Jürgen Klopp's men, who picked up a 2-0 win over Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday, will resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they host Chelsea at Anfield.

Kit deals have become a major asset of football's biggest clubs seeking to generate mammoth amounts of revenue, and Liverpool are said to be on the cusp of breaking the Premier League record for the size of their potential deal with Nike.

But it would not have come about had it not been for the player's gentle intervention.

And Henderson explained: "Me and the gaffer just had a conversation".

Embiid starts for Sixers in Game 1 vs. Nets
On Friday, Embiid told reporters that he has "no idea" what his playing status is ahead of Saturday. "That's my experience. Joel Embiid is in the starting lineup for the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of their playoff series against Brooklyn.

'He obviously likes the position and so it was my fault that for one and half years he was in position No.6... sorry for that!

At the same time when I played No 6 I felt I've learned that position really well.
It was something that he [Klopp] said he would think about.

"I can do both positions and he sees I can do both". It's basically what he wants and he needs from the team.

"I want to keep contributing to the team". Henderson recognises Klopp now has Fabinho as an option there.

"It's difficult to do that, it's hard". But when we had the conversation I felt that I could speak my mind. I feel as though I can do that more in a position further forward.

"In the last couple of years there hasn't really been a player like Fabinho in that role, so I've had to adapt", Henderson said. I think I've done quite well.

"We knew we had to play the second game and we can not decide the tie tonight". In certain games he might want me to play deeper.

However, Henderson has found his first-team opportunities somewhat limited this season due to the summer arrival of Brazil global Fabinho. "But now we played the first game, we know more about each other, and now we go there and play again".
