Famed paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren is dead at age 92, The New England Society for Psychic Research announced Friday morning.

Last night my grandmother, Lorraine Warren, quietly and peacefully left us to join her beloved Ed.

"It is with deep sadness that I must announce that Lorraine Warren has passed away".

Lorraine Warren with the demonic Raggedy Ann who'd end up behind glass in her museum. She was my angel and my hero, and she will be deeply missed. She was a remarkable, loving, compassionate and giving soul. Especially in this climate, to be honest with you, in this climate of dissension and rancor and division, I love exhibiting their unity, and their closeness, and their togetherness. "You have to have faith in your work, and you have to have a great deal of faith in God because that's your only protection against the forces you're coming up against".

Warren died in her sleep at her Monroe, Connecticut home Thursday night, her son-in-law Tony Spera wrote in a Facebook post.

The ghost-busting couple's cases spurred many Hollywood films including the "Conjuring" series and 'Annabell'. They investigated hauntings around the world. "I had the pleasure of meeting her & it will be a meeting I'll never forget".

All of the children, who are aged between two and 29, are believed to have suffered mental impairments from extended malnutrition. The girl's only exercise was pacing back and forth in the room she shared with her two younger sisters, according to the deputy.

The Conjuring franchise has inspired two films of the same name with a third on the way.

Along with her husband Ed Warren, the couple founded the New England Society For Psychic Research. Their exploits included an investigation of the Amityville Horror house on Long Island, which was dramatized in James Wan's 2013 film The Conjuring, with Vera Farmiga playing Lorraine opposite Patrick Wilson's Ed.

The case, though criticized by some as a hoax, was turned into a book in 1977 and was adapted into moves in 1979 and 2005. "As explained in The Conjuring, getting rid of the doll would only get rid of the vessel, not the evil that resides within the doll", Warren explained, adding that she had a Catholic priest perform a prayer to keep the evil spirit inside. "This is a woman who is living her potential". They claimed that the witch cursed the land so that whoever lived there in the years to follow would die. Warren even made a cameo in the first film. One of his largest works on the topic is a study on the portrayals of people with disabilities in horror films.

In the Conjuring she was portrayed by Vera Farmiga.

The actor wrote on Twitter: "My dear friend Lorraine Warren has passed". "From a deep feeling of sorrow, a deep feeling of gratitude emerges".

"I was so blessed to have known her and am honoured to portray her".
