Romain Grosjean hit with three-place grid drop after F1 qualifying

Grosjean had qualified his Haas eighth for Sunday's race but will drop to 11th after being judged to have blocked Norris in the first qualifying segment.

Grosjean said he was not advised by his team that Norris was approaching quickly on a flying lap, according to the stewards.

The difference in speed at the point where Norris had to take evasive action was 136 kph.

"But, he did get screwed over a bit by Sebastian, who overtook him into the final corner", he added.

Norris said there was no question he was held up by Grosjean, but did not feel the Frenchman could have done much more in the circumstances.

"To be fair to him, [Grosjean] only had three seconds or something for his team to tell him that I was behind if they didn't already, and it would have been very hard for him to suddenly change his whole approach to basically giving up his whole lap".

Whistle-blower: White House Overturned Security Clearances Denials for 25 People
Democrats have made repeated requests for documents and interviews but say the White House has been stonewalling. That denial was ultimately upheld, the committee says, and the individual is no longer at the White House.

"I really hope this week, I don't know if we can fix the problem but [we need to] at least get an understanding of why our performance dropped so dramatically from qualifying to the race because I have no idea".

"If I didn't get to do a second quali lap for whatever reason that would have been the reason I wouldn't have been in Q2".

The 32-year-old Frenchman originally qualified his Ferrari-powered vehicle in eighth place by recording a top lap time of 89.015 seconds (136.009 miles per hour) around the 15-turn, 3.363-mile (5.412-kilometer) Bahrain International Circuit road course in Sakhir, Bahrain in the third and final round of qualifying for the race.

"I think we can be happy with qualifying both cars in the top 10, it's very encouraging", said Grosjean before discovering his fate.

"I think we've got some good margins to improve the vehicle though, and that's always a good thing before qualifying". I don't want to discuss the penalty of the grid position, that's a different story.
