FBI hunts woman 'infatuated' with Columbine massacre who threatened school

Authorities said Tuesday that they are looking for a young woman who is "infatuated" with the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School and made threats just days before the 20th anniversary of the attack that killed 13 people. Extra precautions were taken at schools near Columbine, where sheriff's deputies were on hand.

All schools in the Denver area were urged to tighten security because the threat was deemed "credible and general", said Patricia Billinger, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Public Safety.

Classes continued as normal at most of the affected schools, except for Columbine, which canceled after-school activities. 'We have no info about a specific threat related to any schools in APS'.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation say Pais traveled to Colorado from Miami on Monday night and bought a pump-action shotgun and ammunition.

In December, an anonymous caller claimed bombs had been planted inside Columbine high school.

Authorities issued a security warning to schools throughout the Denver area late on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Colorado Department of Education recommended that Denver area schools conduct a "lockout" and controlled release after the alleged threats.

Ten minutes later, the district followed with more information: "To clarify, mountain schools include Evergreen High, Evergreen Middle, Conifer High, West Jeff Middle, West Jeff Elementary, Bergens, Wilmot Elementary, Marshdale Elementary, Elk Creek Elementary, Ralston Elementary, Rocky Mountain Academy, Parmalee Elementary". Almost 20 schools in Jefferson County went into 'lockout mode, ' meaning exterior doors are locked, but inside, operations and classes continue as normal.

She is described as an 18-year-old white female from Florida last seen in the area wearing camouflage pants, a black t-shirt and black boots.

United States authorities are looking for a young woman who is "infatuated" with the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School and made threats just days before the 20th anniversary of the attack that killed 13 people. "I think she's going to be OK", the man said. The students walked to crosswalks and buses parked near the entrance. Two threats were made to the school: One call said there was a bomb inside the building, and another said there was a person with a gun outside.

School officials say the doors were locked but classes were continuing Tuesday at Columbine and two other nearby schools and at other schools farther away in the district.

The 20-year anniversary of the shooting is on Saturday.
