Sadly, this appears to be the case for the estate of Tom Petty.TMZ was the first to report on the legal issues surrounding the Petty estate, with additional reporting done by Billboard and People.

Dana says that while she is now the "directing trustee" of the estate, Tom granted his two daughters a say in the decision-making process before his death in 2017. Dana says she wanted to include the tracks in a 25th-anniversary box set release of his smash hit album, "Wildflowers." . Petty's widow, Dana, and his daughters from a previous relationship, Adria Petty and Annakim Violette, are the parties at the center of this dispute. Here are five things to know about the goings-on around Petty's estate.1.

In addition to claims of abuse towards herself, business and legal representatives, and members of Petty's band, the Heartbreakers, Dana claims that Adria's "erratic behavior has made it exceedingly - and increasingly - hard to carry on business and has threatened the Trust's business dealings and important relationships with the Heartbreakers, Tom's record labels (which are critical to the ongoing success of the franchise), and Tom's longstanding management team".

Adria is asking a judge to intervene and force Dana to comply with her father's will.

Adria allegedly wrote in an email to The Heartbreakers' Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell: "What I don't have the temperament for is having my entire life raped". Being disparaged. My dad being disgraced.

Buzz Williams to be named Texas A&M men's basketball head coach
Williams' a year ago at Tech was his best, winning a school-record 26 games and leading the team to its first Sweet 16 since 1967. Norm Wood of the Daily Press reports that Williams will have to pay Virginia Tech $500,000 to break his contract.

In a separate petition submitted to probate court, Adria said that she and her sister were promised an equal share of control in their father's estate by his will.

The papers cite Adria, 44, as being particularly hard to work with, saying she demonstrated "resentment over their father's love of Petitioner and her role in his life".

In fact, the sisters maintain Dana has refused to transfer her father's artistic property assets out of his trust and into a separate company that would be jointly administered by all three women, as required by the will, allowing her to keep sole control of the assets.

Petty died on October 2, 2017, of an accidental drug overdose.
