Trump Made A Typically Trump Visit To Mount Vernon

Trump: Washington should have named Mount Vernon after himself

President Donald Trump previous year took a trip to visit George Washington's estate at Mount Vernon - and he was apparently not impressed by what he saw.

The president, who was visiting Mount Vernon with French President Emmanuel Macron, was on a tour with Mount Vernon CEO Doug Bradburn, who pointed out that the US capital is named after Washington.

"If he was smart, he would've put his name on it", Trump reportedly said.

Lucky for us all, the president continued to go on a tangent about Washington on his trip the home of our first president, saying that Washington should have put his name on it, because "You've got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you". At one point, he questioned the name of Mount Vernon.

The Macrons were far more knowledgeable about the history of the property than Trump, Bradburn has reportedly told several people.

Bradburn "was desperately trying to get [Trump] interested in" Washington's house, a source told Politico, so he spoke in terms the president understands best - telling him that Washington was an 18th century real-estate mogul. No one, other than Trump, is in any danger of forgetting him. Then, of course, there's his first-born son, Donald Trump Jr.

On the tour, Trump reportedly learned about the first United States president's real estate empire. Either way, I'm glad to know Donald Trump is still very much focused on the forgotten men and women of America, apparently including George Washington.

Bradburn had a hard time keeping Trump's interest throughout the tour and tried to hold his attention by pointing out that Washington was a wealthy real estate titan just like Trump.

"His supporters don't care, and if anything they enjoy the fact that the liberal snobs are upset", they said.
