Patten also admitted to orchestrating a scheme to purchase tickets for U.S. President Donald Trump's inauguration on behalf of a wealthy Ukrainian client.

Patten received no prison sentence because prosecutors said he was very cooperative with the Russian Federation investigation, headed by special counsel Robert Mueller, as well as other ongoing investigations. The sentencing comes as federal prosecutors in NY continue to investigate foreign donations to the Presidential Inaugural Committee and as the Justice Department has been cracking down on foreign lobbying violations. Patten pleaded guilty to lobbying USA lawmakers on behalf of Ukraine's pro-Russia Opposition Bloc political party without informing the Justice Department. Federal law bars such committees from accepting foreign donations, a fact Patten has admitted he knew when he violated the law.

Prosecutors declined to ask for a specific sentence for Patten but told federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson that he gave "substantial assistance" to the Justice Department, according to their legal assessment earlier this week.

Political operative Samuel Patten has been sentenced to 36 months of probation in a case related to the Mueller investigation, Reuters reported. Prosecutors said Patten also tried to introduce a Russian business partner to US lawmakers.

In court papers, prosecutors also said Patten had helped with the investigation into Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign chairman and a former lobbyist for Yanukovych and the Party of Regions. Patten used another American as a "straw purchaser", funneling the Ukrainian's money secretly to the inaugural committee through a Cypriot bank account, prosecutors said at his plea.

Patten helped with the Manafort investigation and was slated to testify in his case before the Manafort pleaded guilty a year ago.

Pelinka and Johnson accompanied Ball to his doctor appointments from that point forward, per Charania. He took over after the worst season in franchise history, a season with only 17 wins.

Both Patten and Manafort worked closely with Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian whom the Federal Bureau of Investigation suspects has ties to Russian intelligence.

The FBI said Kilimnik has ties to Russian intelligence, an allegation he denies.

Sam Patten, a former associate of Paul Manafort, leaves U.S. District Court, Aug. 31, 2018, in Washington, DC.

Although his case was originally investigated by the special counsel's office, it was ultimately referred and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's office in D.C. However, special counsel prosecutor Andrew Weissmann made an appearance today in the courtroom, watching the sentencing along with the public. The document sought to legitimize the prosecution of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

In a tweet Friday, President Donald Trump complained that Craig's case wasn't covered on the front page of The New York Times.
