Parliament speaker Juan Guaido, whom dozens of countries have recognized as the country's interim president, is trying to persuade the public sector and the army to support his attempt to oust Maduro, who won a second term in a contested election past year. So far, however, Maduro has avoided jailing the man that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and roughly 50 other nations recognize as Venezuela's legitimate leader.

Vice President Mike Pence Tuesday demanded the release of six Citgo Petroleum Corp. executives detained by President Nicolas Maduro's government in Venezuela as he met with members of their families Tuesday at the White House.

Tuesday night's vote was unanimous.

"There is no way to stop people who are hungry, who are dying for lack of medicine, people who are in agony because the state does not provide them with basic public services", Krueger Sarmiento said.

Supreme Court Justice Maikel Moreno said Guaido should be prosecuted for violating a ban on leaving the country when he went on a tour of Latin American nations that support a change in Venezuela's government.

The opposition leader, who has immunity from prosecution as head of the National Assembly, is also accused by Maduro's government of inciting violence linked to street protests and receiving illicit funds from overseas.

Other notable changes included Central Bank Governor Mohamed Loukal and Mohamed Arkab being named finance and energy ministers. Salah kept his position as deputy defence minister in the reshuffle, according to state media.

The Constitution guarantees immunity for elected officials, and says that in order to withdraw immunity the accused lawmaker must be given a preliminary hearing before the Supreme Court. They also called Guaido's actions a crime against humanity.

The move by the government-backed National Constituent Assembly on Tuesday paves the way for Guaido's prosecution, and possibly his arrest.

The opposition leader has drawn masses of Venezuelans into the streets and garnered broad global support, demanding Maduro give up rule of the crisis-wracked nation.

Hundreds of Venezuelans desperate for food and services stormed the Colombian border on Tuesday, while Bogota indirectly warned Russian Federation against a military deployment in support of Venezuela's embattled president, Nicolas Maduro.

Maduro blames Washington for trying to install a puppet government to seize Venezuela's vast oil reserves.
