There were some doubts that Yelich's power numbers from previous year would carry over into 2019, as 25 of his 36 homers came in a monster second half of the season and he enjoyed a league-leading 35.0 percent home-run-to-fly-ball rate.

After going 0-for-3 with three strikeouts on Opening Day, Goldschmidt bounced back by going 4-for-5 with three home runs and five RBIs in the Cardinals 9-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. He also became the first player to win the MVP award and then homer in his first four games of the next season. The average exit velocity on his four home runs against the Cardinals, including one against elite lefty Andrew Miller, has been 106.1 miles per hour. If he can then carry that streak all the way through Monday's series opener against the Reds, he'll be the first and only player on that list.
