James Holzhauer entered Wednesday's episode with a 24-game winning streak and $1,867,142 made during his unbelievable Jeopardy! streak.

Holzhauer already was firmly entrenched in the No. 2 spot for most "Jeopardy!" victories and prize money before Tuesday's win.

"You can see as soon as I get control of the board in the first game, I'm going for the $1,000 clues whenever I have the opportunity", he said, likening his approach to a poker strategy.

Holzhauer, 34, who was born in IL but makes his home in Las Vegas, on Thursday won his 26th straight game on "Jeopardy!".

The Naperville native now nicknamed "Jeopardy James" tallied $71,885 in the game that aired Wednesday, bringing the total he's collected over the last 25 games to $1,939,027. Only Ken Jennings, a graduate of Brigham Young University, stands ahead of him.

He has the second longest winning streak in the show's history and the second highest winnings in regular season play - behind only Ken Jennings, who won a total of $2,520,700 over the course of 74 games in 2004.

Saudi Aramco signs US LNG deal with Sempra
Aramco would buy 5 MM tons of LNG a year from Sempra over 20 years if the deal is completed, the companies said in a statement. The largest markets for US exports of liquid natural gas in 2018 were South Korea, Mexico and Japan, according to the E.I.A.

But as he had done 25 previous times, Holzhauer got the victory, defeating challenger Nate Scheffey, a technology consultant from NY, by only $5,400 with a total of $52,108.

Holzhauer was close to the $2 million mark, but alas, it wasn't enough. Holzhauer has taken home an average of $76,582 in each of his wins.

Jeopardy James is now the fifth highest-earning American game show contestant of all time.

Holzhauer remains far from Jennings' win total but he's closing in on the money crown based on a playing strategy that features picking higher-dollar clues first and betting aggressively on Daily Doubles. His performance since has been described as phenomenal. During his fourth contest on April 9, he broke the previous single-game "Jeopardy!" winnings record of $77,000, set by Roger Craig in 2010 by winning $110,914.

Holzhauer now averages winning $76,864 per game with $131,127 being the most he's won in a single game.
