Smollett was written out of the final two episodes of the fifth season after being accused of faking the attack he claimed happened to him back in January in Chicago.

The FOX television network announced Tuesday that it will move forward with a sixth season of its hit drama "Empire".

On the episode of "Empire" airing this week, Smollett's character, Jamal, the middle brother of the Lyon family at the center of the show, is said to be on his honeymoon with his new husband. "Most importantly he is grateful to Fox and Empire leadership, cast, crew and fans for their unwavering support", his rep said in a statement (via Variety).

The court of public opinion has determined Jussie Smollett is guilty of being a blatant liar, even though the charges against him were dropped.

According to the New York Times, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup must also provide documentation. They added, "This unprecedented stonewalling will not work, and the American people deserve better".

Smollett denied the allegations and his attorneys have said the actor "will not be intimidated into paying". Smollett, who was arrested for filing a false police report regarding an alleged hate crime, remains under contract nonetheless.

Even with its recent controversies, this empire is unlikely to fall anytime soon.

Now, with news that the show itself will return for season six, Fox has issued a statement to E!

The city of Chicago sued the actor in early April for the cost of investigating his controversial case, as promised, one week after the "Empire" actor refused to reimburse the city. "We know there are so many more stories to tell, and we can't wait to see what they have in store for Season Six".
