Warning! The following contains spoilers for the finale of American Idol Season 17.

Going into the finals were Top Three singers Laine Hardy, Alejandro Aranda, and Madison Vandenburg. During the show's first nine seasons, according to the New York Times, no victor had received less than $1 million.

ABC just renewed the long-running series, but the future of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan remains in question.

The two remaining finalists then took to the stage again as Alejandro performed his original song Out Loud while Laine took on the Sam Cooke song Bring It On Home To Me. Watch reaction from family and friends in Laine's hometown after he won!

The layoffs included closure of five factories in the US and Canada and cuts of another 8,000 white-collar workers worldwide. The number of jobs cut is far less drastic than the 25 000 that a Morgan Stanley analyst predicted a year ago .

Hardy's second song Sunday night was "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)."

According to the Blast, which obtained the contract signed by third-place finisher Madison VanDenburg, the 2019 American Idol victor is signed to Hollywood Records, a division of Disney Music Group, which itself is part of the Walt Disney Company, which also owns ABC.

After getting the Golden Ticket to Hollywood, Hardy delivered a slew of charming and charismatic performances that ultimately paid off with his big win.
