A uninterested woman on a"foodie call

A new study published Friday in the Society for Personality and Social Psychology journal found that a quarter to a third of heterosexual women have gone on a date with a guy they weren't interested in - just for a free meal. In the first group, 23% of women had engaged in a foodie call, most did it occasionally while some only rarely. Researchers from Azusa Pacific University and University of California-Merced found that women who displayed the traits of psychopathy, Machiavellianism, narcissism were more likely to engage in a "foodie call" and find it socially acceptable.

As well as that, women who believe in "traditional" gender roles - basically the idea that it is a man's job to provide and for women to perform household chores - were also more likely to make a "foodie call". 40 percent of the women were single, 33 percent married, and 27 percent were in a committed relationship but not yet married.

"Several dark traits have been linked to deceptive and exploitative behavior in romantic relationships, such as one-night stands, faking an orgasm, or sending unsolicited sexual pictures", said Brian Collisson of Azusa Pacific University.

Twenty-three per cent of women in this first group revealed they'd engaged in a "foodie call". One of the question also studied if the participants thought a foodie-call was acceptable.

This study was performed twice, with 357 women taking part in the second instance. This is in comparison to other women who do not display the "dark triad" of personality traits, who said that these kind of dates were moderately to extremely unacceptable. Moreover, those engaged in foodie calls had a higher tendency to "dark triad" personality traits.

Shakib Al Hasan is the number one all-rounder in the ICC rankings and in prime form. Australia have not been at the top of their game in the ongoing World Cup so far.

Dr Collison said that he and his colleagues read about foodie calls in the news and became fascinated by them.

As for how many foodies calls might be occurring in the United States, Collisson says that can't be inferred from the current research.

The psychologists who discovered this have dubbed these dates "foodie calls".

Researchers say it is important to note that neither of the studies recruited representative samples of women. It is important to note, however, that neither of these studies recruited representative samples of women, so we can not know if these percentages are accurate for women in general. The study notes that this behaviour can occur in any types of relationships or genders.
