Based on the comic by Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Darick Robertson (Happy!), The Boys explores what happens when superheroes abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. The series differs from the typical superhero tale and takes on a more comical and villain-focused perspective.

An adaptation of The Boys has been in the works for years in some form or another (at one point Adam McKay was going to direct a movie adaptation), but it finally came to fruition via Supernatural and Revolution showrunner Eric Kripke, who executive produces and showruns this new Amazon series. The pilot episode was directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane). The new trailer highlights the group's methods and features insane scenes including using a baby as a laser-weapon, severed hands, and fight sequences set to the Spice Girls. The Boys are also looking to take down Vought, a giant conglomerate which manages the superheros.
