Barnes declines $25.1M player option to become UFA

Barnes, who was traded to the Sacramento Kings at the trade deadline, has chose to decline his $25.1 million option to remain with the Kings next season, according to multiple outlets.

Add Harrison Barnes to the list of unrestricted National Basketball Association free agents.

If Barnes had picked up his option, it would've been the final year of a $94 million contract that originally signed with the Mavericks.

Alas, Barnes and agent Jeff Schwartz may be more optimistic about landing a long-term deal that will carry Barnes through his prime this summer than they would be next summer.

But it was most recently put on the market in 2016 for a whopping $900,000 by John Colone, Hell's unofficial mayor . They simply said the American embassy should fly the flag of our country", talk show host Joe Pagliarulo tweeted .

He's projected to be one of the top wings available in free agency.

Barnes would eventually play his former team twice after the trade to the Kings - and Sacramento won both times.

Dallas' trade with the Kings made for an awkward second half for Barnes vs. Charlotte in early February.

If a new deal with the Kings does not come to fruition, the 6-foot-8 Barnes should have plenty of suitors on the open market. Barnes averaged 14.3 points per contest on 45.5 percent shooting from the floor - including a 40.8 percent clip from distance - across 28 appearances with the Kings.
