The almost 50,000 Brazilian and Argentine fans at Maracanã hinted at how intense the atmosphere will be on Tuesday.

Sergio Aguero and Lautaro Martinez led the attack once again, with Lionel Messi playing behind the two forwards.

According to Express UK, Argentina coach, Lionel Scaloni, released a list of eleven players to start the match against Venezuela Friday night.

Lionel Scaloni's men got off to the flawless start as Lautaro Martinez got his second goal of the tournament with a neat finish from close range after just 10 minutes. German Pezzella took over from Foyth in central defence, while midfielder Marcos Acuna was preferred to Giovani Lo Celso.

Aguero's effort was not dealt with by Venezuela goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez, who palmed the ball back to the feet of the onrushing Lo Celso, who slotted home into the back of the net to end any hopes of a Venezuelan comeback.

In first half injury time, Martinez nearly had a second put on a plate for him by Marcus Acuna, but Roberto Rosales whisked it off his toe at the back post, four yards from goal as Argentina finished the half with another burst of attacking intent.

Aubameyang reportedly open to Man United move - but should Arsenal consider selling?
However, the former Gunners midfielder did admit players have all the power now - which could affect the move. Should the Gunners cash in on the striker, it would allow Emery to bolster his squad.

"We knew that this match was not going to be easy but we are happy to have gone to the semi-finals".

The quarterfinal clash between the two teams is scheduled to take place at the iconic Maracanã arena- the same venue where around five years ago Messi confronted presumably the greatest defeat of his career against Germany in Federation Internationale de Football Association 2014 World Cup final.

Venezuela's first opportunity came only after 40 minutes, with a header by defender Jhon Chancellor.

"It was a very deserved win", Armani said. That also happened in the 2016 Copa America Centenario.

"This defeat will not make us change anything", Dudamel said. "Without the ball we did very well. Little by little we are getting better".

Dudamel added a Brazil-Argentina semifinal will be "good for the show".
