Elton John has extended his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour for what's expected to be a sell-out show at the Sunshine Coast Stadium

Music concerts don't get much bigger than this, so it's fitting Elton's show on Wednesday, February 26th is the stadium's first global act.

He will be joined by longstanding band members Nigel Olsson on drums (part of Elton's original three-piece band in 1970), esteemed musical director Davey Johnstone (who first recorded with Elton in 1971 and joined the band a year later) on guitar, virtuoso Ray Cooper on percussion, Matt Bissonette on bass, John Mahon on percussion, and Kim Bullard on keyboards.

Since going on sale in February, Australia and New Zealand have snapped up tickets to Elton's Farewell tour, with total sales approaching half a million tickets.

"I think Rocketman will have a huge impact on demand for these shows besides the fact there haven't been any tickets available in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane for months", Chugg said.

'I still speak to him once or twice a week now.

The concert, that will see the stage and seating erected on the playing surface, is one of 38 concerts Elton will play in Australasia starting in Perth on November 30 and running through to March 2020.

"No backstop, no deal" warns Ireland's prime minister
The assumption is that no British government would agree to a separate status for Northern Ireland to the rest of the UK. Leo Varadkar was responding to comments from some candidates seeking to replace Theresa May as prime minister.

Chugg said the entertainer has been uncompromising about the mammoth production for Farewell Yellow Brick Road for both the indoor arena and outdoor stadium shows on the tour.

John is retiring from touring to focus on his family including sons Elijah and Zachary.

Adding six more dates to his already packed schedule, the "Tiny Dancer" singer has now added gigs in Geelong, Melbourne, Coffs Harbour, Townsville, the Sunshine Coast, and finally, Sydney, and will also be appearing at A Day On The Green.

The new tickets will go on sale on June 25, with Elton set to perform a staggering 32 shows in Australia alone.
