President Trump on Saturday professed to be "very angry" over the murder a year ago of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi at a Saudi consulate, but again declined to pin responsibility on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whom he called "my friend".

Trump did now not acknowledge Acosta's request about whether he mentioned Khashoggi's extinguish for the period of his breakfast meeting with the prince, but wired the important relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Trump did not answer questions about Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October 2018.

Trump also referred to Prince Mohammed as "a friend of mine", despite worldwide outcry over the murder and then dismemberment of Khashoggi.

And I know not only you but also your father, the King, put in a tremendous effort to seize the money going to the groups that were not liked by us.

Images from the summit showed Trump shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries with the crown prince, commonly referred to as MBS.

"This friend of mine has really done things in the last five years in terms of opening up Saudi Arabia, especially women empowerment".

The Saudi crown prince's failure to achieve his anti-Iran goals comes while bin Salman counted greatly on the support of the other members of the G20 for Washington and Riyadh against Tehran.

The report urged a formal criminal investigation into the case. "I assemble along with Mohammed", Trump acknowledged.

The US president described the murder as "horrible", but insisted that Saudi Arabia had been "a terrific ally" helping create jobs in the US during Saturday's press conference.

During this meeting in Osaka, Japan, Mohammed bin Salman tried his best to rally East Asian countries (for instance, Indonesia and South Korea) against Iran. His Excellency welcomed the Kingdom's hosting of the summit of the Group of 20 countries, expressing his confidence that the Kingdom's presidency of its work will contribute to resolving issues of global concern.

Saudi Arabia has joined the United States in pushing for a firm stance against Iran after a recent spate of attacks on tankers and oil installations in the Gulf.

"We can declassify. the truth is I don't want to talk about intelligence", Trump said.

Western worries about Saudi Arabia may have not resonated in the G-20 meetings, but there remains mounting concern in certain quarters about the ties between the kingdom and the many nations that have relied on its natural resources and political position.

And it appears they are as close as ever.
