Google Auto-Delete Feature for Location History, Activity Data...

Google is offering you the option to choose between deleting the activity data after 18 days, 3 months or manually based on your preference. Tap on that, and you'll be given the choice to either keep data until you delete it manually, or keep it for either 3 or 18 months before it automatically deletes.

That tool was pretty handy for anyone who tends to forget to clear their data regularly, and now it's being expanded to cover location history as well.

Google is now letting users delete data it collects from their devices, either location history or app data, automatically. You will only need to change these settings if you want to adjust the auto-delete frequency or disable it. Google has laid out everything neatly, but it still takes a minute or two to find the option you're looking for. Google already knows enough about you and I'm not sure it needs to know your entire life.

Users have always been able to turn off - or "pause" - that tracking in a settings page, Activity Controls, and, if they do not forget to, they can manually clear the saved information using the Delete Activity page. Another feature to do the same with web and app histories also appears to have launched.

United said Flight 2098 heading from LaGuardia Airport experienced problems upon takeoff just before 8 a.m. All passengers were taken to a terminal where alternate arrangements were being made.

Though Google is releasing the auto-delete feature to heighten privacy safeguards, the collection of user data is the heart of the company's business model.

Well, you have now configured the Google account to auto-delete your activity data and location history (coming really soon) older than the specified time limit.

The new feature was announced in May and formally rolled out on Wednesday.
