France faces Brazil in a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Round of 16 match on Sunday

France is into the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Cup after the hosts edged Brazil 2-1 in extra time in one of the tightest, most intense games of the tournament. From there, each team had a chance to win it in the final 30 minutes of regular time and even more so in a back-and-forth extra time where a goal felt like it was inevitable. That win sends France into the quarterfinals where the team will face the victor of U.S. and Spain for a spot in the semifinals.

Marta, who earlier in the competition set the all-time record for World Cup scoring-men's or women's-looked directly to the camera, talking to Brazil's next generation, saying, "It's wanting more".

The first sight of goal saw Marta create herself some space with clever footwork outside the box but fire wide, before Debinha saw an effort deflected past the post by the boot of Wendie Renard.

France came out firing in the early exchanges of the second stanza as Gauvin finally got on the scoresheet with a legitimate goal seven minutes inside the second half as she poked home a cross from Kadidiatou Diani on the edge of the six-yard box towards the bottom corner.

But Buttigieg also acknowledged he has failed to diversify the police department and ensure that officers wear body cameras. This town hall comes days before Buttigieg is scheduled to participate in the Democratic primary debates.

France were much-improved after the half-time interval, and grabbed the lead with their first shot on target in the 52nd minute.

After a quiet start, Marta almost broke the deadlock for Brazil seven minutes before the break with a header at the near post that was smothered by Sarah Bouhaddi.

There were no further twists in the regulation 90 minutes, though, as Eugenie Le Sommer made a total mess of a free header and Tamires had a goal ruled out for offside.

Amandine Henry got on the end of Amel Majri's long free-kick for the victor.
