The FDA is recalling more than 100,000 bags of flour.

The E. coli concerns arose because ADM Milling Co., a Buffalo-based company that mills King Arthur's flour, flagged links to an outbreak involving a different product processed at the facility, according to King Arthur spokesperson Gwen Adams.

The recalled Unbleached All-Purpose Flour (5 lb.) was distributed through retailers and distributors nationwide. Any remaining products in the recall have been pulled from grocery store shelves, says King Arthur spokesperson Gwen Adams, but consumers could still have the products in their homes.

In that case, 17 sicknesses were reported across eight different states in the recall linked to five-pound bags of Baker's Corner flour.

Target says customers 'unable to make purchases' in stores
Some of those who had procrastinated buying gifts for their dads made last-minute plans to bring their dollars to other retailers. Later, just after 3 p.m., Target's Twitter account posted a message about the registers being down, but did not provide a reason.

Consumer safety is our top priority, and therefore, we are voluntarily recalling these specific lots of Unbleached All-Purpose Flour to prevent potential illnesses.

People who have bought any of the flour shouldn't it eat and should either throw the flour away or return it to where it was purchased for a refund, King Arthur Flour said. Symptoms typically include stomach cramps and diarrhea. Some infections are mild, but others can be life-threatening. Most people recover in five to seven days.

The recall has been assigned as a "Class I", which means "it is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death". HUS is most likely to occur in young children and the elderly.
