Three months after his death, Nipsey Hussle received a star-studded tribute while being posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award during the 2019 BET Awards on Sunday (June 23).

Video of the year, best group, best collaboration, the best R&B categories and the BET Her award also were not presented on air.

Last night at the BET awards saw a tribute given to the Ermias Joseph Asghedom better known as, Nipsey Hussle.

"I was trying to help somebody cross", said Perry, who continued to explain that he helped his mother cross by making films which "let black women know they are worthy, special, powerful, amazing". Decked out in all white, DJ Khaled capped things off with a rousing performance of his Father of Asahd single "Higher" featuring John Legend.

The talks are exploratory at this stage and, even if implemented for 2020-21, would only be considered a pilot program as opposed to an indefinite change.

24-year-old English singer songwriter Ella Mai won the viewers' choice award for her song Trip, beating off competition from Drake, Childish Gambino and Travis Scott. Blige earned a Lifetime Achievement award, while filmmaker Perry was given an Icon Award. "You have set the bar for relatable, timeless and classic music", she said. She added, "I was so amazed by how much love was out in the world for him that you uplifted me".

She went on to thank BET, her parents, siblings and friends, as well as her fans, saying "words can not express how grateful I am to have you in my life".

During the show, Regina stepped out in several chic outfits while she hit the stage.
