Pep Guardiola has shot down suggestions that he intends to take a sabbatical from football, after reports in the United Kingdom press claimed he could leave his post at Manchester City at the end of the 2019/20 season.

Guardiola took a year out of the game because of fatigue after leaving Barcelona in 2012.

Yet with two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, the 48-year-old insists such thoughts are not in his mind.

He has helped the Citizens win two Premier League titles in a row, the first team to defend their league title in nearly a decade.

In response to those reports, Guardiola said while competing at the Costa Brava Legends Trophy - a golf tournament held in Girona: "I do not take a sabbatical".

Guardiola also emphatically denied speculation linking him with Juventus last month.

Instead, City have their eyes on recruiting a right back this summer with Joao Cancelo of Juventus among the names linked with a move to the Premier League champions.

"We all want to win the Champions League because it is the most lovely thing", he said.

'If we fail, we will try again, as the important thing is to be there until the end'.
