Liverpool star Sadio Mane dealt African Cup of Nations blow after picking up suspension

Senegal have departed their Spanish-based training ground at Pinatar Arena Center for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt along with their long-awaited star forward Sadio Mane on Friday.

The 27-year-old picked up two yellow cards during the Lions of Teranga's qualifying campaign and is now suspended for the clash against Tanzania.

However, Senegal head coach Cisse believes the team will remain strong despite the absence of the star in their first tie.

Mane will therefore be out of the squad to face Tanzania on 23 June, but should return for Senegal's next two group stage games against Algeria and Kenya. Subscribe to our SMS sports service by texting "SPORTS" to 22840. "That's how we'll get there", he added.

Arkansas-Florida State will meet Saturday in Omaha
The University of Michigan Wolverines open play in the College World Series for the first time since 1984 tomorrow afternoon. The second four-team bracket will play Sunday in Omaha , beginning with a 1 p.m. game between Vanderbilt and Louisville.

The tournament will be Mane's third Africa Cup of Nations, and he will be keen to erase the memories of the last one - he missed the decisive penalty in Senegal's quarter-final shootout defeat to eventual champions Cameroon in 2017.

Cisse also expressed his discontent on the suspension pointing out that the bookings in qualifiers should not be carried on to the main tournament.

Premier League and Liverpool top scorer Mane, who scored 26 goals in all competitions (22 in the Premier League and four in the Champions League), was called up for Senegal's 25-man preliminary list hours ahead of winning the champions league final against Tottenham on 1 June.

"Caf have decided, so we will not linger [on the subject]".
