IGN asked game developer Crystal Dynamics' lead creative director Shaun Escayg about the community's less-than-glowing responses and he made it clear that the studio would not be altering the characters' designs - as least, not for now. Following its appearance at the Square Enix E3 2019 press conference it still wasn't exactly clear what sort of game it actually was. "There are now no plans to change our character designs", said lead creative director Shaun Escayg.

"We are always listening to, and welcome feedback from our community", said Escayg.

That said, however, he didn't shut the door completely when it came to making improvements to these characters.

Woods finished with 11 straight pars for a 1-under 70 on Thursday, leaving him five shots behind leader Justin Rose . Piercy started fast with an eagle at the par-5 sixth to move to 5 under before double bogeying the eighth hole.

He did however go on to emphasize that the games was still in its early stages and that, although the core designs wouldn't change, they would be refined further before the launch. "We wanted to clearly show that this was our spin on the Avengers", Escayg says. It seems we'll be getting a single player campaign, with control moving between all the characters at certain points in the story, plus an ongoing array of co-op missions we can play online with friends. "We were creating a brand new thing in collaboration with Marvel, so it really did demand our own characters".
