Nadal energised by Paris triumph and aims to win third Wimbledon

Nadal hits a backhand

Asked how many more times we could see Nadal lift La Coupe des Mousquetaires, he playfully said: "Ten more!" I think [he is mentally ready]. "I have already achieved more in my career than I imagined".

Nadal won at the All England Club in 2008 and 2010 but his record there since then has been mixed, although he did reach the semifinal a year ago.

The Spaniard collected his 12th Roland Garros crown by beating Dominic Thiem on Sunday, moving him just two Grand Slam titles behind Roger Federer's record of 20.

It was the Spaniard's third title at the tournament in consecutive years and 18th Grand Slam champion in total.

Federer was unable to do something more on the return and the Spaniard held in game eight with a forehand victor for a 5-3 lead, delivering another good hold at 5-4 to cross the finish line, falling to the ground when Roger's forehand landed long and starting a massive celebration after staying unbeaten in Paris.

The Austrian, though, was having success here and there, and he immediately got back on level after Nadal broke for 3-2. Yet there he was in Court Philippe Chatrier, showing off a less-appreciated aspect of his game, by volleying impeccably and winning 23 of 27 points when he moved forward.

Sensing maybe the fight was over, Thiem settled down in the fourth, making Nadal save break chances in his first two games.

Instagram outage spreads across the world
As with every Instagram crash, thousands of people have taken to other social media sites to share their reactions. The outage apparently was first reported at around 2.30pm Pacific Time Thursday, or about 7.30am AEST Friday.

Watch every minute and match from Roland-Garros 2019 live - anytime and anywhere - on Eurosport and the Eurosport Player.

Nadal, however, was content to enjoy the moment. "Hats off to what he's done this month and a half, because it's easy to play well when all the things are working well". I felt competitive last couple of years, so why do I need to change that?

Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are widely considered the three greatest male players to have picked up a racket, with 53 slam titles between them, and their powers do not appear to have diminished in their 30s.

Nadal said he will not play a grass-court warm-up event, preferring to rest, stay healthy and then start preparing for Wimbledon - although he may play one or two exhibition matches just to get the feel of the match-court.

Inevitably, a reporter brought up the topic of chasing Federer, now that he's so close behind. "If that time comes, I will think about how I'll do even better next year". "Being honest, I am not very anxious about this stuff, no?"

"You can't be frustrated all the time because your neighbour has a bigger house than you or a bigger TV or better garden". That's not the way that I see the life, you know.

Looking only at grand slams won - more later on why that is not the only criterion for assessing greatest of all time (GOAT) credentials - Federer has held at least a three-slam lead over his great rival since July 2004. Three of those sets came to Federer (first set in 2006 by a score of 6-1, second set in 2007 by a score of 6-4, and third set in 2011 by a score of 7-5), two of those sets came to Djokovic (third set in 2012 by a score of 6-2 and first set in 2014 by a score of 6-3) and one set came to Mariano Puerta of Argentina in a first set tiebreak.
