PM Modi's Aircraft Won't Fly Over Pak For Regional Meet SCO In Bishkek

Xi urged the two sides to stick to the fundamental judgement that China and India offer to each other chances for development, and do not pose each other threats, and called on the two countries to keep deepening mutual trust, focusing on cooperation, and properly handling their disputes so as to turn the bilateral relationship into a positive element for their respective development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aircraft won't fly over Pakistan on its way to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan for regional meet Shanghai Cooperation Organisation that starts on Thursday, the foreign ministry said. It could be held on June 13 itself, sources said.

He said, their talks included the full spectrum of India-China relations.

The Prime Minister said, the two countries will continue working together to improve economic and cultural ties. Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come as the main guest to the Eastern Economic Forum.

The Kremlin has said that the Russian president will also take part in a trilateral meeting with the leaders of China and Mongolia on the sidelines of the SCO summit, which will officially take place on June 14.

It will be the first meeting between Putin and Modi since the Indian prime minister secured a second term last month following his party's victory parliamentary elections. The Prime Minister was accorded warm welcome on his arrival at Manas International airport in Kyrgyz capital.

Modi told Xi that the Indian side was willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with China, strengthen strategic communication, promote bilateral relations in a wide range of fields, expand new areas of cooperation, and properly handle their differences.

Presidents and Prime Ministers of 8 member countries will participate in this multilateral global forum which will also be attended by 4 head of states as observers.

Since becoming a member of SCO in 2017, Pakistan has been actively participating at all levels in various SCO mechanisms including foreign affairs, defence, national security, economy and trade, science and technology and innovation, youth and women empowerment, tourism and media.

India apparently had put in a request with Pakistan to let Prime Minister Modi's aircraft fly over its airspace. The CHS is the supreme decision-making body in the SCO.

With all three nations being the members of SCO, the ongoing trade war between the USA and China, as well as American sanctions against Iran, could also be discussed.
