The Special Counsel's Office - not affiliated with Robert Mueller - issued a report to the president saying Conway violated the law by criticizing Democrat presidential candidates in her capacity as a federal employee.

President Donald Trump used his favorite media platform - Fox & Friends - to reiterate his support for accused Hatch Act violator Kellyanne Conway.

"We've got outside groups who have political agendas trying to file actions against me...doesn't make them true and it doesn't make them relevant", she stated.

His comments came a day after the Office of Special Counsel publicly recommended Conway's removal from federal office, calling her a "repeat offender".

"I would certainly not think based on what I saw yesterday - how could you do that?" he asked "They have tried to take away her speech, and I think you're entitled to free speech in this country".

The US Open Final: Who Will Make it?
The 34-year-old Swiss won the first two sets 6-4 and 7-5, forcing an injured and struggling Djokovic to retire in the third. If she’s at her best, then she’ll make it to the final and if she performs on the day the title will be hers.

Trump said the recommendation is an attack on Conway's "right of free speech", adding that it is "not fair".

The accompanying report goes on to cite examples of Conway ripping Trump's potential political opponents.

In an interview Friday, the president declared he has reviewed Conway's alleged misconduct and will not fire the White House counselor despite calls from a government watch dog group to do so.

"Ms. Conway's violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act's restrictions". Furthermore, as President, Trump has the ultimate authority to reprimand or fire Conway. I fully-I'm going to just give-I'm going to give a free commercial here.

Counsel to the President Pat Cipollone also responded to Kerner's recommendation, which he blasted in a letter as "a product of a fatally flawed process". "Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system - the rule of law". "The Report is based on numerous grave legal, factual, and procedural errors". "They asked a question - I think one of them was involved with your show - You ask a person a question and every time you are supposed to say 'I can't answer, I can't answer?' She has to have the right of responding to questions". OSC then demanded a response by 9:00 a.m. the following morning.
