Samoa Bans 'Rocketman' from Cinemas Over Gay Sex Scenes

Samoa's principal censor Leiataua Niuapu Faaui told the Samoa Observer on Tuesday that the homosexual activity depicted on screen violated laws and didn't sit well with the country's cultural and Christian beliefs.

About 97 percent of Samoa's almost 200,000 people are Christians and sodomy is a crime in the island nation.

The censor did concede to the newspaper that "It's a good story, in that it's about an individual trying to move on in life".

Rocketman follows Sir Elton during his breakthrough years, and stars Jamie Bell as his collaborator Bernie Taupin and Richard Madden as his manager John Reid.

The New 'Frozen 2' Poster Arrives Ahead of Tomorrow's Trailer
The cold winds are coming our way as Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios are all set to roll out Frozen 2 . In the image, Elsa stands in a forest with Anna surrounded by fog as the girls portrayed battle ready looks on their faces.

Surprisingly, Samoa did not ban 2018's "Bohemian Rhapsody" from theaters, which most likely stemmed from its PG-13 rating. If you're seeing Elton John on tour, there's a good chance you're probably a huge fan and have already seen Rocketman.

At the end of the song, John got up from behind the piano to embrace the actor. Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films produced the film alongside Elton John with his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish.

"Unfortunately due to censoring issues we have had to cancel "Rocketman"," Apollo Cinemas, in the Samoan capital Apia, said on its Facebook page.

"Rocketman" has now grossed $100 million in the global box-office, far behind the impressive $903 million that "Bohemian Rhapsody" enjoyed.
