Dhawan has been temporarily eliminated for three weeks because he got hit on his left thumb while playing against Australia. Once a player is ruled out of the tournament through injury he can't be brought back unless another player is injured and the ICC technical committee is satisfied with the replacement.

It was a topic of debate that who would join India's World Cup squad after Shikhar Dhawan was injured.

There is no denying to the fact that the Indian team has got a lot of plans designed for Shikhar Dhawan in the ongoing World Cup. From pushups to leg press and squats to abs; Dhawan seemed to be his full form and we applaud his passion and sincerity.

The video that was shared by Dhawan had a caption of, "You can make these situations your nightmare or use it (as) an opportunity to bounce back".

Though the Indian think tank is confident of Dhawan's availability towards the latter half of the group stage and knockouts, they have kept Pant on stand by just in case the opener does not recover on time.

Talking about Shikhar Dhawan, who has suffered a thumb injury, Kohli said, "Shikhar will be in a plaster for a couple of weeks, we'll assess and see".

Dhawan was injured in the match against Australia played on June 9, during which he scored a century, and therefore the earliest he will go through an examination of how much his fractured hand has mended can only be made after approximately June 21. "He's motivated, we wanted to keep him back", Kohli said after the tie against the Kiwis was called off.

Kohli also lauded Shikhar's positive mindset, stating that it will only help his injury heal faster. However, with such unpredictable weather conditions in England, we hope that this match doesn't end up getting stalled too.
