A redacted version of the Mueller report into Russian interference in the 2016 United States election first reached the public in April.

The star-studded reading harkens back to 2012, when George Clooney and Brad Pitt led a live reading of the court case, Perry v. Schwarzenegger, which challenged the legality of Proposition 8, the ballot measure which banned same-sex marriage in California.

Law Works is calling the performance "a live play in 10 acts ripped straight from the pages of the Mueller Report".

The staged reading, titled "The Investigation: A Search For the Truth in Ten Acts", will feature a cast of about 20 including Annette Bening, Jason Alexander, Alyssa Milano, Zachary Quinto, Kevin Kline and John Lithgow. The peformance will take place in front of an audience tonight in New York City and streamed live.

The one-night only staged reading is organized by Law Works, which says it works to educate the public on the integrity of US judicial systems. Star Wars fans can look for Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) to make an appearance. Pulitzer Prize and Tony victor Robert Schenkkan wrote the play. Their goal is to share resources and stories from experts to shed light on important developments based on the rule of law, making sure that neither Congress nor the American people consider themselves above the law. He has also picked up Emmy nominations for his HBO limited series "The Pacific" in 2010.

"The Investigation" comes from screenwriter and playwright Robert Schenkkan and is produced by Susan Disney Lord, Abigail Disney and Timothy Disney.
