Turkish soldier dies in attack on military post in Syria's Idlib

The Syrian regime forces on Saturday targeted an area located near a Turkish observation post in Idlib, northwestern Syria, according to the Ministry of National Defense.

The forces of the Bashar al-Assad regime attacked the 10th observation post in the Zawiya region with artillery and mortar fire.

Syrian soldiers also repelled a new attack launched by radical groups of the 'Front for the Liberation of the Levant, ' formerly Al-Nusra Front.

Although Turkey and Russian Federation have agreed to stop acts of aggression and turn Idlib into a de-escalation zone, the Syrian regime has consistently violated the cease-fire, launching frequent attacks inside the de-escalation zone.

US, Taliban to open Doha talks in fresh bid to end war
The Taliban control or contest half the country, more than at any time since they were ousted by US-led forces in late 2001. That's because returning Taliban fighters to the battlefield if the USA reneges on its promises could be hard .

The wounded were evacuated and have begun receiving medical treatment, the ministry said.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem said earlier that Damascus does not want to see any fighting with Turkey. "What we are fighting is terrorists, especially in Idlib, which is Syrian territory - part of our country".

Russia, which supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in his country's civil war, and Turkey, long a backer of militants, co-sponsored a de-escalation agreement for the area that has been in place since past year.

But the deal has faltered in recent months, with heightened fighting forcing hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee.
