Target says customers 'unable to make purchases' in stores

According to a tweet, Target officials are "troubleshooting" and "apologize for the inconvenience".

"We are aware of a systems issue in store and are working as quickly as possible to get this fixed".

A system outage is impacting Target stores across the nation, causing registers to be down. "Every single register at the Richfield [Target] is down". It's unclear what caused the outages.

Later, just after 3 p.m., Target's Twitter account posted a message about the registers being down, but did not provide a reason.

Some of those who had procrastinated buying gifts for their dads made last-minute plans to bring their dollars to other retailers. Social media users reported employees at some stores were entering information by hand in order to facilitate purchases.

Patrons from Texas to NY to Florida are tweeting photos and videos of dozens of customers waiting in line with red shopping carts filled with products, unable to check out seemingly due to computer issues.

Shortly after 4 p.m., a woman answering phones at the Target in Harrisburg's High Pointe Commons said the store was operating normally. Customers offering their baskets to strangers trying to hold all of their items.
