There's a Spice Girls animated movie in the works

Mel B (Scary), Mel C (Sporty), Emma Bunton (Baby), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), and Victoria Beckham (Posh) are working with Paramount Animation on a new Spice Girls film, EW has learned. Released at the height of the Spice Girls' cultural power, the film proved to be a box office hit, marking the then-highest debut for a Super Bowl Weekend, and raking in $151 million worldwide.

Produced by Simon Fuller, the film will be an animated feature that includes classic Spice Girls hits, along with some new songs.

The film is in early development with other 2020 releases, the Hollywood Reporter revealed Wednesday. For those of us that can't swing the airfare to see our favorite '90s queens on stage, fear not, because The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the animated movie is happening, and all five Spice Girls are "very involved".

Dominican Republic death: Another American tourist dies on vacation
Robin Bernstein, U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic, offered her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. A neighbor - who was cat sitting for Cox while she vacationed - said he found out about her death on Wednesday.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this news is that the entire Spice Girls gang is attached to the project - with Legally Blonde, Ella Enchanted, She's the Man, House Bunny, and 10 Things I Hate About You scribes Karen McCullah and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith on board to write the script.

According to the outlet, president of Paramount Animation Mireille Soria has revealed that the Spice Girls animated movie is now in the early stages of development. A director has not yet been announced.

The Spice Girls first formed in 1994 and became the embodiment of girl power during the 1990s.
