Two men, aged 70 and in their late 50s, respectively, were fatally injured in the crash.

Oneman is believed to be from Dundrum in Dublin and the other from Kildare. Their families and the owner of the aircraft alerted authorities.

Two men have died after a light aircraft crashed in County Kildare in the Republic of Ireland.

The crash happened at Belan, Moone on Thursday evening, and the aircraft was located in the early hours of Friday following searches.

An investigation is being carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU).

According to reports, the aircraft departed from Kilrush Airfield, Co Kildare on Thursday night and a search was launched after it failed to return.

'The two occupants have been fatally injured.

In a statement it said that two inspectors have been deployed and have begun an investigation at the scene.

He said the BRM Aero Bristell NGS aircraft had taken off from Kilrush Airfield between Athy and Narramore.
